The Hawaiian chain of islands is a volcanoes creation and even today many of these volcanoes are active. Hawaii consists of hundreds of islets, atolls but just eight of the largest are frequented by tourists. Hawaii is also the name of one of the eight big islands.

Kaua’i or the garden isle is the oldest and the most seductive of all the islands. It has dense mountain terrain, untouched beaches, and brilliant sunsets. It’s also one of the most expensive to visit but the rates drop between April and June and again during September and November. Poipu Beach has many luxurious resorts. The Nā Pali State Coast Park cannot be visited by vehicles and tourists have to walk or take a chartered tour by boat. Nā Pali means high cliffs and the shoreline cliffs rise to 4,000ft in some places.
Maui is very popular with the tourists, it has famous beaches, golf courses with coastal fairways and roads that offer scenic views of the coastline. The road to Hana courses through lush rainforest and waterfalls. Though just 55 miles long from Kahului to Hana, the trip usually takes the whole day due to tourists stopping at numerous scenic spots. Kaanapali Beach is the most popular beach in Maui and stretches for more than 3 miles but swimmers are cautioned that currents can be strong. It has two golf courses, high-end hotels, restaurants, and shops. The nearby Whalers Village is an open-air shopping center.
